Múinteoir Gary’s 6th Class

Winter Wonderland

6th Class were very busy creating a spectacular Winter Wonderland. We created a 3D igloo (which was very popular with younger classes for photographs) using old cardboard boxes, paint and paper. Zuzanna and Khloe added some wonderful colour to the background by drawing a beautiful aurora borealis with chalk. In the giant snow globes, we decided to paint our favourite Christmas films – ‘Elf’ and ‘Home Alone’. We attempted to create 3D snowmen using wool and glue but unfortunately, many of these melted and did not survive. Finally, we made vibrant decorations, delicate snowflakes and we added a tessellation Christmas tree where everyone in the class designed their own tree before we put them together in a giant class Christmas tree. We had a great time designing and creating our final Christmas window in St. Ultan’s.

Wishing you all a very a merry Christmas

Our window is called Department of h’Elf.

We decided to combine our Christmas theme with our staying safe theme. The children created their own elf costumes from felt and then added a photo of themselves. They also created little depictions of viruses using styrofoam balls, which they painted green and cocktail sticks painted black. Snowballs were created using smaller styrofoam balls, glue and glitter.
