Nurture in St. Ultans
The Nurture Room is one of the many ways we promote well-being in St. Ultan’s Primary School. In our Nurture Room, many children take part in different groups throughout the day. Some of these groups include:
Early Birds
Junior Nurture Group
Senior Nurture Group
Zones of Regulation Group
Therapeutic Story-Writing Groups
In our Senior and Junior Nurture groups, we prepare tea and toast for our catch ups around the Nuture table, and afterwards everyone chips in to do the tidy up! With our bodies fueled, we start into our work, this can be anything from solving mysteries around the school, taking part in role plays, to doing special activities. Last year, we learned to bake scones, grow carrots, make slime and had a visit from the artist Paula McGurdy!
In our Senior Nurture Group one of our favourite trips last year was to the D.S.P.C.S.A. to visit the cats, dogs and another animals there. We read about how the animals had ended up at the D.S.P.C.A, how they were being cared for and what kind of a home they were hoping to find. Trips to the Phoenix Park for conker collecting were also a highlight!
2019/20 was the first year of having a Nurture Room in our school and it’s been a great success!
